José Miguel "Chemi" Barrera's career spans over 20 years in film and television, executive production, and the international media business.
His professional journey has taken him from small independent companies to major international firms, allowing him to develop expertise across multiple areas of the media industry — from talent management to intellectual property rights, international distribution and co-productions, investment funds, soft money for productions, and tax equity operations.
He has worked at companies such as Grupo Secuoya, Dopamine, and Grupo Ganga... As well as at Filmmarket Fund Asset and Capital, where he was part of the founding team and managed the audiovisual operations of the tax equity investment fund.
He holds a degree in Film Production from ECAM (Madrid Film School), a Master’s in Audiovisual Production from IORTV (Official Institute of Radio and Television), and an MBA in Executive Management of Audiovisual Companies from MEGEC – IESE Business School / University of Navarra.
